Since mid-June, the area next to the RWTH main building at Templergraben has been a real laboratory: a car-free urban space, on which temporary sports classes of the HSZ invite to try things out and to participate.
Similar to the Theaterplatz Aachen, the mobility committee decided in mid-June that the Grabenring should be shaped in an environmentally and socially compatible way. The reduction of motorized traffic serves the safety of bicycle and pedestrian traffic as well as the improvement of the quality of stay at the Templergraben. A four-month real laboratory will put this concept to the test.
Uni.Urban.Mobil, the city of Aachen and other student and urban initiatives invite to enliven the Templergraben with cultural events and projects during this four-month period.
During a four-week period from August 2 to August 27, the RWTH University Sports Center (HSZ) will offer sports courses at Templergraben.
The following sports courses will be offered:
- Tuesday: Zumba at Templergraben (5pm to 6pm)
- Wednesday: Fit for Dinner at Templergraben (5pm to 6pm)
- Thursday: Zumba at Templergraben (5:30pm to 6:30pm)
- Friday: Juggling and unicycling at Templergraben (from 6pm)
The booking of the individual courses takes place 24 hours before the start. In addition, participants can drop in at short notice and join in by registering via the QR code on the Corona Warning App.
In case of heavy rain, the courses will not be held. Registered participants will be informed in advance about the cancellation.
