The situation at the branch office of the Foreigner’s Office (Ausländeramt) has worsened. Students are lining up in the cold early morning, waiting for hours, and if they are lucky – receive a waiting ticket. We, AStA (The General Students’ Committee) and AV (Representation of Foreign Students), have been in communication with the Foreigner’s Office, in hopes of reaching a solution.
The Foreigner’s Office is working on an online ticketing system, which would allow students to book their appointments online. The system is supposed to be launched later this year, however this does not resolve the current situation. Until the Foreigner’s Office launches their new system, AStA and AV have a temporary solution, in order to alleviate the problem.
The AStA and AV have launched an online booking system for your place in the queue. THIS IS NOT AN APPOINTMENT. Students will have the opportunity to reserve a place in the queue the day before at 6 PM. Following the booking confirmation, you will receive an email, along with your position in the queue. The next day, students can line up shortly before 7:20 (since the branch office of the Foreigner’s Office at SuperC opens its doors at 7:30) according to their ticket number. Please bring your ticket and bluecard / ID, so that everyone can arrange themselves in the according order. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at 6 PM the booking system will be activated. The Foreigner’s Office has allotted us:
- Mondays: 25 Spots (booking for Mondays is Sunday at 6 PM)
- Tuesdays: 25 Spots (booking for Tuesdays is Mondays at 6 PM)
- Wednesdays: 40 Spots (booking for Wednesdays is Tuesdays at 6 PM)
Currently, students whose residence permit has already expired, will expire in the next 4-6 weeks and urgent cases are eligible for an appointment. If your residence permit is valid for more than 6 weeks, please do not come at this time.
By using this system, students will NOT have to start lining up at 4 in the morning. The AStA and AV represent the students at RWTH and will do whatever we can, to help the students. Students can reach the booking system with the following link:

- Monday: 8:00 – 12:15
- Tuesday: 8:00 – 12:15
- Wednesday: 8:00 – 12:15 & 14:00 – 16:45
- Thursday: Closed for public
- Friday: Open for appointments only
