BierTemp – The Student Beer Garden
BierTemp is our beer garden on the Templergraben. Every Friday – weather permitting – you will find the beer garden on the Platanenplatz, directly opposite the main building. We offer a changing selection of beer, cider and soft drinks at student prices. You can bring your own food.
Unfortunately, the BierTemp will not take place in 2024 for the time being. The reason for this is that, despite our best efforts, we have not received the necessary permits. You can find more information about the reasons and what we are doing now here in our blog:
BierTemp in 2024
Some of you are probably already waiting for the start of the new BierTemp season. Unfortunately, however, we have to inform you that BierTemp will not be taking place for the time being. The reason for this is that, despite our best efforts, we have not received the necessary permits.
In previous years, BierTemp was held on the basis of a temporary restaurant permit, which allows easier conditions for operation, but also requires a legal basis. This legal basis for us was the Templergraben Reallabor, which expired in September last year as a result of the permanent closure of Templergraben. Due to this change in the legal framework, the BierTemp can only be carried out with a permanent permit.
Based on this, we are currently working with the RWTH to examine the requirements for obtaining this permanent permit. However, the implementation will still take some time.
In the meantime, we will continue to try to find opportunities to hold a few BierTemps or some form of BierTemp events. However, these attempts have not yet been successful.
Our aim is and remains to maintain the student beer garden on Platanenplatz. It contributes significantly to increasing the quality of the Templergraben and is an important meeting place for students outside the university.
