Awareness

Awareness is an important prerequisite at events and in everyday interactions so that everyone can have fun and celebrate and live without discrimination and without violating their boundaries. We have summarized the most important terms and concepts. At the bottom of the page you will find contact points that you can turn to.

Awareness: Means a conscious approach to and consideration of individual backgrounds, boundaries and needs.

Consensus: Consensus is required before any contact is made. Non-compliance with consensus is a transgression of boundaries. Consensus means unambiguous consent; a clear, voluntary YES is decisive. No consensus means NO, MUCH or unclear yes answers. No means no.

Boundaries and the power to define: Boundaries are individual and must be questioned and respected. The power to define boundaries lies with the person concerned. Other people should not question this definition. Asking for consensus and clear consent are crucial to avoid crossing boundaries.

Responsible consumption: Excessive alcohol or drug consumption does not excuse misconduct. Responsible consumption of alcohol, for example, within one’s own limits is important.

Non-discriminatory: No form of discriminatory behavior is acceptable. The reproduction of prejudice and stigmatization must be avoided, including “positive racism”
