According to a decision of the rectorate, the free attempt regulation (“Freiversuchsregelung”) also applies in the current winter semester for all students in a bachelor’s degree and for third attempts in a master’s degree. According to this, all exams that have not been passed are considered as not taken as long as they have been taken and there has been no attempted cheating. Individual exams in medicine are exempt from this regulation – you can find these in the supplementary regulations of the university or on our website.

Deregistration from exams is possible this semester up to three working days before the exam at the latest. In addition, it is possible to withdraw at short notice without a medical certificate, e.g. due to a positive test result or symptoms of a cold in the case of attendance examinations. In this case, please contact the Central Examination Office (ZPA) by e-mail. For online exams, the same rule applies, although a doctor’s certificate is still required for cancellations due to cold symptoms.

It is not yet clear whether the standard period of study (“Regelstudienzeit”) will be increased again this semester. As soon as we have more information, we will inform you on all our channels!
