The Reallabor Templergraben will continue! Originally, the Reallabor would have ended today. But in the last session of the City of Aachen mobility committee it was decided to continue the car-free Templegraben.
The past months have shown that the car-free Templergraben works. We feel safer there with our bikes, the space is quieter now, and traffic chaos has not broken out due to the new traffic routing. The space has been used for numerous events – the BierTemp, the Stadtglühen, the sports courses of the university sports center and the clothing swap of nAChhaltig angezogen. And in between all of these, the Wanderbaumallee invited visitors to linger.
The further continuation of the traffic routing depends above all on one thing: In the middle of next year, the Turmstraße bridge will be rebuilt. The city administration will present a concept for this in January; it will also be examined whether the Templergraben can remain car-free.
What do you think about Templergraben as it is now? The survey on the Reallabor Templergraben can still be filled out until November 15th:
