The individual standard period of study (“Regelstudienzeit”) will be increased once again for all students enrolled in the summer semester of 2021 – this is the result of a new regulation issued by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. If you were already enrolled in the last two semesters, the standard period of study will therefore be increased by three semesters. The increase in the standard period of study also applies to all those who are currently on leave of absence (“Urlaubssemester”). Despite the increase in the standard period of study, the effects for BAföG recipients have not yet been clarified. As soon as we know more, we will publish it on all our channels.
